• #ALipADay // #30 - Revlon Lip Butter Sugar Plum •

This is the final lip in the #alipaday series - *sob* - and today I'm going for a really pretty, sheer, glossy purple.

After a few days of bold lips, I'm going for lighter and more neutral today. The Revlon Lip Butter in Sugar Plum is my go-to lip when, basically, I just can't be bothered, but want to add a wash of colour. It's a really sheer pinky-purple (it definitely comes off more purple in real life) and I think it's a lovely, easy colour to wear when you're trying to tone down your make up a little. As it's in lip butter form, it's really easy to apply and you don't need a mirror, so you can whack it in your bag for touch ups throughout the day. The formula is so moisturising and my lips always feel so soft when I remove it after a day of wear, so it feels like I'm giving my lips a bit of a break from all of the matte lipsticks I love wearing! It's really glossy, meaning that the lasting power isn't amazing, but I don't mind reapplying as it's a swipe-on kind of jobby.

I've really loved writing the #alipaday series (even though it has been hard work at times - I've had to factor in 'camera set up and photo-taking time' into my morning routine!) and I hope you enjoyed reading it, too. Lots of product reviews and recommendations on my favourite topic - lipstick!

• #ALipADay // #29 - MAC Viva Glam 1 •

I think (hope) you'll agree that this colour is absolutely stunning.
It's totally up my street and one of my most used.

I've definitely been gravitating more towards the brights these past few days! I think it's because I've been waking up earlier, so I've had a little more time to play around with my make up and take care with my lipstick. Anyway, on today's menu is MAC Viva Glam 1, a very beautiful matte red which is extremely similar to the Rimmel Kate Moss Lasting Finish Matte 107 (which I reviewed here!) and I'd say they are pretty close-to-perfect dupes. This one is more red and the Rimmel lipstick is more on the berry side of things, but they're both gorgeous in their own way. I love this MAC lipstick as it's so creamy even though it's matte. It goes on so easily and is so comfortable to wear - I've done the 'rub your lips together and see if they drag' test and it passed! I love the formula, the deep red colour and the fact that it's just so Autumnal - love!!

• #ALipADay // #28 - Rimmel Apocalips Stellar •

Another liquid lipstick! I'm a self-confessed addict. This is a really light-weight, thin and highly pigmented lipstick.

Rimmel Apocalips in Stellar is a very bold, 'look at me' lipstick and I love it when I'm trying to make a statement. It's red with a pinky undertone and it looks so lovely on! I remember wearing this loads last year and it was the lipstick I wore on Christmas day 2013. It's very festive, very current and looks absolutely beautiful with slightly smokey eyes neutral cheeks. It's certainly an attention grabber and I totally let it steal the show when it comes to the rest of my make up. The lipstick formula itself is very liquidy but so pigmented, meaning that you definitely need a mirror when it comes to application, otherwise you could have yourself a hot mess. It does dry down but stays glossy, and I find that when the glossiness wears off, you're left with a stain.

• #ALipADay // #27 - Revlon Matte Balm Audacious •

I cannot, and never will be, able to resist an orange lip. Soz.

Especially when it's matte. So basically, orange + matte = my perfect kind of lipstick. The Revlon Matte Balms just impress me, although, if you read my review of the colour 'Unapologetic' earlier on in the month, you'll know that when I first swatched them a few month ago, I wasn't crazy about them. My perception of the collection definitely changed when I just took the plunge and bought a couple, as when they are on the lips, they are seriously gorgeous. Swatches just don't do them justice. Seeing them paired with the rest of my make up just made me fall in love with the range and I'm so happy I picked up a few. Revlon Matte Balm in Audacious is the perfect tone of orange - it has a very subtle red/coral undertone and it just perks up any make up look. It's a great shade for Summer although I'm obviously wearing it in September, and I've even managed to wear it for work - I took a little of it, dabbed it onto my lips to sheer out the colour, et voila. The formula of these matte lipsticks is so creamy and comfortable, honestly you can still rub your lips together and it doesn't feel drying at all. I am so in love with this range and cannot wait to pick up some more, and I seriously recommend giving them a try.

• #ALipADay // #26 - Bourjois Peach on The Beach •

This product is so similar to the Revlon Lip Butters but in crayon form.

After reading Kate from Ghostparties' blog and watching her videos, I was intrigued to try Bourjois Peach on The Beach. She wore it in so many of her tutorials and it looked amazing with her pale skin tone, so I decided to pick it up in Summer and lo and behold, I fell in love with it. It really suits pale skin but I don't think I'd wear it when I'm more tanned. The shade is a very pale, very glossy peachy pink (as the name would suggest) and it's extremely moisturising and comfortable to wear. I guess you could try to build up the colour but to be honest I quite like that it's so sheer. In terms of application, I love any lipsticks that are in crayon form as I love the ease of them, and this one is no different. The staying power isn't great as it's such a moisturising product that it tends to slip off your lips/I tend to end up licking it off without realising, but it doesn't matter too much as it's so easy to apply throughout the day. I basically see this as a tinted lip balm which treats my lips and provides a little colour!

• #ALipADay // #25 - MAC Viva Glam Nicki •

This is the latest addition to my collection and I don't own anything like it!

I've never been one for Barbie pink, whether that be in a handbag, jacket or lipstick, but when I saw this I was drawn to it for some reason. MAC Viva Glam Nicki is a wearable blue-toned bubblegum pink as it's quite a dark shade so it doesn't wash you out. You definitely need to wear blush with this lipstick otherwise it's like POW on your face and the blush will even the pink that's going on. The formula of this lipstick is semi-matte as it goes on semi-satin but then dries down to a more matte finish. It's extremely long-lasting, creamy and feels very comfortable on the lips. I don't tend to wear this during the day, if I'm honest, because I'd feel self-conscious of wearing a bright pink lipstick around school, but in the evenings I really enjoy wearing it with a cat-eye and pink cheeks.

• #ALipADay // #24 - Rimmel Kate Moss Lasting Finish Matte 107 •

This is my absolute favourite lipstick that I own. I love love love it and I've gone through multiple tubes.

I cannot get enough of it. I wear it in Spring, Summer, Autumn Winter - whenever I feel like it, I just go for it. Rimmel Kate Moss Lasting Finish Matte 107 became my favourite lipstick as soon as I swatched it in store, and as soon as I walked out of the store, I popped open my mirror and applied it. I then fell in love and realised I couldn't possibly be without it. I'll try to explain and give reasons why, but I don't want to waffle on and go off on a ramble (as I have been known to do when talking about this lipstick...) so I shall make a start with the colour; the colour is just amazing - it's a true, classic red which is more on the pink side (if I had to give it a 'side') and it perks up any type of make up that I'm currently wearing. It's a matte lipstick, which is my favourite type of lipstick, but it's not drying in the slightest and you can rub your lips together without them feeling dry or sticking. It's very comfortable to wear and is moisturising, and it's easy to apply without the need for lipliner. It's ridiculously long wearing and I've got away with applying in the morning at around 6.30am and not touching up in the day, getting home at 6.30/7pm and it looking ok. It did start to fade, but it faded evenly and didn't go patchy at all, so I can deal with that. You can also sheer it down and I sometimes do this for work, just by dabbing my finger on the lipstick and then tapping it onto my lips. This creates the prettiest red stain which is lovely for more natural days. Truly it is the most beautiful lipstick and I can't recommend it enough. If I only had to have one lipstick, if it meant I gave up every other lipstick I own, I would definitely 100% keep this one.

• #ALipADay // #23 - Topshop Charmed •

If you're into orange lipsticks, but shy away from bright ones,
Topshop Charmed is going to be perfect for you.

I mentioned in a previous post that the Topshop lipsticks are a favourite of mine; the formulas, colour range and overall wear-time are pretty impressive. I picked up Topshop Charmed a few Summers ago when I wanted to indulge in the orange trend but shied away from bright oranges. Spotting this one, I was immediately drawn to it; I love the peach tones as they tend to suit me. The formula of this lipstick is super creamy, glides on smoothly, is moisturising and stays on my lips for a long time. I can't complain about it at all and it's so flattering to my olive but pale skin tone. The finish is satin although for some reason the website says its matte (this is also true for Topshop Infrared which I reviewed earlier this month) as it turns out quite glossy once it's on. It's a real Summer lipstick and I don't often wear it past September, but always look forward to wearing it around the hotter months!

• #ALipADay // #22 - Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain Honey •

I love neutral lips for work and I think this one is just perfect - a hint of pink that goes with pretty much any make up look.

Revlon Just Bitten Kissable Balm Stain in Honey is such a hard colour to explain. In the photo it looks pink, but in different lights it looks more purpley. When I'm tanned, it looks like a light pink but when I'm pale it looks like a darker pink. It's odd but I love it because it's so different. I really like the minty scent of the balm stains and I love that it comes in crayon form, as it's so easy to apply. It's very glossy and super moisturising so I don't have to bother prepping my lips beforehand to remove dry skin (nice) as it acts like a balm that conditions throughout the day. When the glossiness fades, I'm left with a nice pinky stain, so I can get away with not applying it again. I only own 'Honey' in the range as the other colours didn't interest me so much, but I recommend this one and I'll be repurchasing very soon as I've had it for over a year and I feel like it needs replenishing!

• #ALipADay // #21 - Sleek Barely There •

Sleek are seriously comparable to high-end brands. The products
are impressive for such affordable prices.

I delved into Sleek about 6 months ago and I picked this lipstick as Shaaanxo recommended it in a few videos. Ohh I am so glad that she did. Sleek Barely There is a peachy nude and I'd say it's more of a satin finish. It's the creamiest formula and feels so comfortable on the skin. Its amazingly pigmented and the shade is perfect for my pale skin tone; it's not so light that reminds me of concealer lips, and it's not too dark that is drains my complexion of colour. I just love everything about this lipstick and it's just so so easy to wear - honestly, this is the lipstick that everyone should have in their hand bag. Just one swipe on the lips and you're done! It doesn't cling onto dry patches (of which I have many) and it fades evenly throughout the day. I really need to pick up more from this range!

• #ALipADay // #20 - MAC Quite the Thing •

To vamp up a look, I always grab this purple
glossy lipstick.

I can't even begin to explain how creamy this lipstick is. It glides straight onto the lips, doesn't highlight any dry patches and covers all imperfections. Seriously it's one of those 'feel-good' lipsticks. MAC Quite the Thing doesn't receive enough hype in my opinion as it's such a gorgeous purple shade. I don't think that my camera has quite picked up the intensity of the colour so you'll have to take my word for it when I say that this lipstick is a really deep, pigmented purple. I applied one coat in the photos but I have applied multiple layers of this lipstick to take me into the vampy style, and it never fails to impress. As with all MAC lipsticks, the quality is incredible and this lipstick is part of the sheen supreme line, meaning that it's super moisturising and conditioning on the lips whilst leaving a slightly glossy finish. This is my second tube of the lipstick and I can see myself repurchasing it again when I've run out (which will be soon, I'm sure).

• #ALipADay // #19 - Collection Cream Puff Fairy Cake •

Coral lipstick in Autumn is perfectly acceptable...
right?

The Collection cream puffs are gooooorgeous and I've been raving about them for so long! I own two of them and I've already worn Cotton Candy earlier on in the month. The Collection Cream Puff in Fairy Cake is more of a coral than Cotton Candy and I'd say it has quite a strong orange hue to it. It instantly brightens up my face and I love wearing it with minimal make up. It dries down to a matte formula which makes it super long lasting, and I really enjoy the fact that it doesn't wear off in funny places - ie. leaves a strong colour around your lip line and no colour in the centre of the lips! I like that it's a liquid, creamy lipstick which you apply with a doe foot applicator (if you've read some of the previous #ALipADay posts, you'll know I'm a sucker for liquid lipsticks!) as it makes it so easy, and I definitely recommend checking this out when you're next out beauty shopping!

• #ALipADay // #18 - Maybelline Velvet Beige •

A pinky brown, glossy, 90's lip which is perfect
for both daytime and evenings out.

I'm a 90's kid but unfortunately I was never able to rock the brown lip back in the day, as I was in my early childhood when the trend was most prominent! Now, however, I'm grabbing this opportunity with both hands as I'm obsessed with browny pink, nude lips. Maybelline Velvet Beige is my answer to a nostalgic memory and I definitely feel like my mum when I wear it (alongside my 'Mom' jeans, I actually feel like I've travelled back in time...). This lipstick in particular is one of my most worn as it's so pigmented, creamy, long-lasting and moisturising. Pretty much a tick in every box in terms of lipsticks, in my book. And a cheeky little find here: it's the most perfect dupe for MAC's Creme in Your Coffee... I literally swatched the MAC lipstick, went to Boots and swatched this lipstick and I genuinely could not tell the difference. The only difference is the formula, as this one is more of a satin finish and the MAC lipstick is more matte, but you could always matte this one down by powdering it with translucent setting powder. You're welcome...

• #ALipADay // #17 - Rimmel Apocalips Celestial •

The prettiest pink which adds a pop of colour
and lasts all day.

I've been really into pinks lately (can you tell?) and this is one of my absolute favourites. I am in love with the Rimmel Apocalips and they're one of the first brands that started off the lip lacquer trend. The Rimmel Apocalips in Celestial comes out of the tube in a very liquidy formula and you apply it with the doe foot applicator. It then dries and you can layer the colour again or leave it there; I layered twice in the above photo so it's quite a strong colour. Saying that, you really don't need to layer it as the formula is so so pigmented and the colour is so rich. Celestial is a stunning muted pink that is perfect for wearing to work as it's understated but still looks like you've made an effort. You will need to apply this lip lacquer with a mirror as it can get everywhere (which is a nightmare as it doesn't come off easily!) so do be sure to have one to hand, although the colour should last you all day so I don't think it needs reapplication. I'd highly highly recommend this line and it Celestial isn't your colour, go and check out the range - they have some beautiful shades.

• #ALipADay // #16 - MAC Crosswires •

This lipstick was definitely a grower for me -
I didn't used to like it until I worked out how to wear it.

And I now realise that I can't really wear this lipstick when I'm pale or when I haven't bronzed up my face. MAC Crosswires is a gorgeous dark pink which is on the verge of red but it completely washes me out unless I have some colour to my face. I tend to bronze up my cheeks and lightly contour when I know I'll be wearing this lipstick and it works perfectly. I love how smooth the MAC cremesheen formula is; the lipsticks don't dry my lips out, they don't drag, go patchy or wear off, and they're so pigmented it's crazy. If you're familiar with MAC lipsticks, you'll know that they smell really lovely too which is always a plus for me because I have a ridiculously good sense of smell and can always smell lipsticks on me throughout the day!

• #ALipADay // #15 - Revlon Lip Butter Juicy Papaya •

A pretty, peachy, glossy lip. Simple.

This was the first lip butter I bought and it sparked my love for the line. The lip butters in general are fantastic as they're moisturising, easy to wear and have a decent amount of pigment to them. I especially love Revlon Lip Butter in Juicy Papaya as it's really natural and girly. It's the kind of lipstick that you'd buy if you were just starting off your make up collection, or if you're new to make up and aren't sure which products to start off with. Equally, I purchased this when I was afraid of lipstick and wanted something really sheer which provided a touch of colour, and this did the job. The lip butters just glide onto the lips and are ridiculously easy to work with; you don't have to scrub at them before hand to get off the dead skin, you don't need a mirror for application and you don't need to worry about the colour smudging or patching off in weird places. It's pretty much the lazy-girls go to lipstick! As with all moisturising lipsticks/butters, though, this won't stay on your lips for the longest time because the formula is so slippery and creamy - but this won't put me off, as I can just keep reapplying.

• #ALipADay // #14 - Laqa and Co. Sheer Lip Lube Menatour •

A paired-down bright purple with blue undertones.

I received this Laqa and Co. Sheer Lip Lube in Menatour in a recent Birchbox and as at first quite scared of it, but since daring myself to wear it out of the house, I've come to love it. The lipstick is in jumbo crayon form which, already, makes me like it as it's super easy to apply and the twist-up applicator makes it easy to see how much you have left. It's quite a bright colour and I don't think the camera has picked it up enough but in real life it's more purpley, instead of pinky. It feels very soft on the lips and is so pigmented that you only need one layer of it. I've worn it with very simple winged liner and deep rosy cheeks and it looked really lovely. I also tried it with bronzed cheeks and smokey eyes, but for me, it was just too much - so I soon took it off! With this lipstick, I think you need to keep everything else quite minimal, as it deserves to be the focus of the make up look.

• #ALipADay // #13 - Revlon Matte Balm Unapologetic •

A matte, pigmented, creamy, moisturising,
stunning formula all rolled into one... amazing.

Before I begin with the review, I have to explain what happened when I showed a few friends this photo - I was asked whether I'd edited it. The answer is a definite no. This lipstick really is this bright and colourful, it certainly does not need any editing! Revlon Matte Balm in Unapologetic is a gorgeous bright pink with a blue undertone (which makes my teeth appear white, even though they're not!) and it looks amazing with my skin tone (pale with olive undertones). I'll admit that when I first swatched the Revlon Matte Balms a few months ago, I wasn't impressed and was unsure of what the hype was all about, but since purchasing a few of them and wearing them with moisturised lips, I can safely say my opinion has changed. This lipstick is so creamy and comfortable to wear, despite it being matte - you can still rub your lips together without them tugging and feeling dry. The colour doesn't bleed and seriously wears for hours, even after food, drink and talking, and I always reach for this if I know I won't have time for reapplications and touch ups. It just seems to work for me, and I tend to pair it with pink cheeks, shimmery champagne eyes and a lighter brow.

• #ALipADay // #12 - Topshop Infrared •

This is my Summer lipstick and I whack it out every single year.

But that's not to say I wouldn't wear it in September! This is definitely more of a weekend lip as I wouldn't wear this to work, but just looking at it makes me happy. Topshop Infrared lipstick is such a beautiful bright orange and I feel like it really suits my skin tone. I'm generally more of an orange-lip girl anyway and I seem to collect them, but this is definitely one of my favourites. The formula is really creamy and not patchy at all, it feels so lovely and moisturising on the lips and it lasts a long time, too. I've found that the best way to wear it is to apply it, blot it with a tissue and apply another layer to increase the longevity. The Topshop website describes this as a matte finish but I would disagree as it certainly isn't matte in comparison to some of my other lipsticks (I'm thinking the Rimmel mattes, Revlon matte balms...) so I'm not sure what's going on with the website description there! I'd say it's a satin finish as there is a bit of shine and it's very cushiony. If you're into oranges like I am, I'd recommend giving this a swatch the next time you're in Topshop. Their make up in general is such fantastic quality.

• #ALipADay // #11 - Rimmel Kate Moss Lasting Finish Lipstick 16 •

If I'm going for a subtle pink lip, I'll reach for this one.

The Rimmel Kate Moss range is amazing and every single shade seems wearable, which I love. There are a few different finishes and I have two from the collection. The first one of which is Rimmel Kate Moss Lasting Finish Lipstick 16, a pretty pink colour, which leaves a creamy finish which I think is similar to a satin finish. I must say that this isn't the most exciting shade I own, but I love it for its simplicity and its ability to perk up my face whilst still looking subtle and natural. Sometimes you need those types of lipsticks, you know? It's a very smooth lipstick, quite sheer and needs a few layers, which is nice because you can build it up or tone it down depending on your preference.

• #ALipADay // #10 - MAC Kinda Sexy •

I've repurchased this lipstick twice in the space of 16 months... it's safe to say I really like it.

I'm not usually one to repurchase lipsticks as I have a lot of fun trying new ones out and trying to find dupes, but MAC Kinda Sexy will always be a firm favourite of mine and I can see myself always repurchasing it. It's a classic nude which I think will never grow old or become outdated as it's a darker, peachy nude which is matte in texture. It isn't drying at all, it is so long-lasting it's ridiculous (we're talking 5-6 hours after eating and drinking) and it's so pigmented that you only need one layer. I absolutely love it and it's the first nude I bought so it holds a special place in my heart! - it's the lipstick that made me fall in love with all nude shades so I thank it for that. There's something about this lipstick that always draws me in; it perks up my face and because it's slightly darker, it doesn't wash me out at all. It really suits my skin tone which is pale with olive undertones, and the shade is different from any other nude I own. I looked into buying Creme Cup and Hue, which are very popular nude shades from MAC, but when I swatched them I just didn't think they were as nice as Kinda Sexy. I just see it as my 'sexy' nude - it's a sexy shade, if lipsticks can even be sexy. You catch my drift.

• #ALipADay // #9 - Clarins Instant Light Lip Perfector 05 Candy Shimmer •

This is my baby! I honestly guard this with my life and I don't even dare take it out with me.

So clearly, I'm very fond of the Clarins Instant Light Lip Perfector in 05 Candy Shimmer.  This product is the most stunning, luxurious feeling lip product that I own. I've repurchased this twice and I will always continue to do so. It may not look like much, but if you own one of these, you'll understand my love for them. They feel so light on the lips, so moisturising and perfecting (okay, so I cheated there... but there's no other way to describe them!). I really like the subtle pink on the lips, with a wash of gloss that is not at all sticky and the right amount of light-reflecting. It feels beautiful on the lips and I've been known to wear it for so many occasions - on the beach, out for dinner, to an interview, even around the house when my lips are in need of some conditioning and TLC. I keep telling myself that I'll pick up a different colour the next time I run out of it, but I feel very attached to number 5! It's so girly and pretty, very 'girl-next-door' and I love how natural and versatile it is.

• #ALipADay // #8 - Revlon Wild Watermelon •

The sort of colour I'd wear for work - a soft, sheer red.

I'm a massive fan of the lip butter range and I have a few of them in my collection. Revlon Lip Butter in Wild Watermelon was the first one I purchased as I'd seen so many amazing reviews of it and I was forever looking at swatches of it on Pinterest, so when I first bought it I wore it non-stop. I haven't worn it as much lately as I have so many lipsticks that I do try my hardest to rotate, but I've rekindled my love for it after wearing it all day today. I love easy lipsticks and I think that this is the perfect starter lipstick for someone who is looking for a brighter lip but wants it to be low maintenance - you don't need a mirror to apply this and you don't need to moisturise your lips or make sure they're buffed, as this lip butter will moisturise them for you. Think lip balm and lip colour all in one. The glossy finish is lovely but it does fade, leaving you with a slight stain, but I quite like that so this doesn't bother me.

• #ALipADay // #7 - MAC Viva Glam 1 Lipglass •

If you're looking for a deep red that's really easy to wear and is moisturising on the lips, this lipglass is the one for you.

Gone are the days of being too scared to wear bold colours, but there are some occasions in life where I have to tone things down a little. Cue the MAC Viva Glam 1 Lipglass. This lipglass (which is MAC's version of a lip gloss - pigmented, goes on like a lip gloss and has the shine of a gloss) is stunning and I wear this when I want to wear a bold red lip but don't want something as daring as a matte. It's basically my everyday version of a red lip! It's so easy to wear, is so easy to apply and it just brightens up the face. The formula is so moisturising and feels lovely on the lips, and the colour is very long lasting. I would say that it's not a thin consistency - it is quite thick and will probably need more work than a thin gloss, such as the Clarins Lip Perfectors - but this is to be expected with such a pigmented gloss. I really really like this and I'll definitely be getting more wear out of it now that we're heading into Autumn!

• #ALipADay // #6 - Collection Cream Puff Cotton Candy •

These aren't your normal matte lipsticks - they're creamy,
non-drying and don't accentuate the lines in your lips.

And another bonus - they're £2.99. Absolute bargain. This Collection Cream Puff in Cotton Candy is truly amazing and I'm not sure how I can actually express my love for it in a blog post. The lipstick goes on really smoothly and the applicator is a lovely doe foot applicator. It feels so light on the lips whilst giving a really pigmented colour, which is a gorgeous neutral everyday pink, and you can rub your lips together without them feeling dry. It's so long wearing and doesn't fade after a while, and the lipstick also doesn't cling to any dry patches on the lips. I really recommend this product as I honestly reach for it so much, especially on days when I'm going for natural make up.
