• Urban Decay Naked Basics 2 // review •

Can we just take a minute to admire/obsess/(insert word here) over this palette please? This palette drives me crazy.
Literally insane. I love it.

As soon as I saw the advertisements and sneak peeks for the Urban Decay Naked Basics 2* palette, I couldn't get enough of it and just knew I didn't to have it. The cool tones, the creaminess and the packaging - oh, the packaging. The photos alone say it all, but I wanted to review this product to basically tell you how much of a cult item it is and how it has quickly become my holy grail for early, rushed, Autumn mornings.

I'm all over warm tones, and love my MAC Warm Neutrals palette, but I love switching things up and going for cooler tones as we near the colder weather. The shades in the Naked Basics 2 are so up my street and are warmly welcomed into my collection as five out of six of them are matte, and I don't own many matte colours. This makes the shades more day-time appropriate and easier to wear - an effortless chic, if you like. I was never really crazy about the first Naked Basics palette and I don't even own any of the other Naked palettes, but I was so drawn to this one as the shades are mostly taupe, which I'm obsessed with right now.

These one-swipe-wonder shades are impeccable and work well as an all over the lid colour. I've used each and every one and have found the formula to be creamy, blend able and so highly pigmented. In fact, the first time I used this palette I dipped my liner brush into Undone to give myself a softly-lined effect, but I got so much on the brush that I had to wipe most of it off! You definitely need to use a light hand with this palette as the shades are so highly concentrated, but I absolutely love this as it just adds to the ease of use of the palette.

I've used this palette every day since I've had it and have come up with so many looks and colour combinations, as well as day-time and night-time appropriate looks. For day-time and wearing at work, I really love applying Stark (nude-pink matte) all over the lid, Primal (muted brown matte) in the crease and Skimp (pale nude satin) in the inner corners to brighten. My favourite night-time look is applying Cover (muted red-brown matte) all over the lid, Primal (muted brown matte) in the outer corners and in the crease, Undone (deep, smokey brown matte) as a smudgy, smokey liner applied close to the top and bottom lash line, and Skimp (pale nude satin) in the inner corners. It's such a versatile palette that it's definitely all you'd ever need to use for day and night - and because it's so small and compact, it's so easy to travel with!

Mine was from Cohorted.co.uk and was reduced from £22 to £15.40 - if you're not familiar with Cohorted, it's a website that sells beauty items at a discounted price. It works alongside social media - basically, the more people that go to purchase an item on the website, the bigger the discount. Every week there are 4 new items that are up for grabs which keeps things exciting and fresh, which means that the Naked Basics 2 may not always be up for purchase - if so, you can also purchase it from Feel Unique. I've purchased a few things from Cohorted and have been impressed with both the discount and the postage and packaging times. Go and check the website out if you haven't already, I do love a good discount!
