• Reverse washing & does it work? •

For years, I've washed my hair with shampoos and conditioners that claim to volumise, thicken and give 'oomph' to my hair. I thought it was all down to the products - but it's actually down to the method.

I'd seen on YouTube that beauty bloggers and vloggers recommended washing your hair in an untraditional, modern way - by conditioning then shampooing. I originally thought it was a fad and that everyone was jumping on the bandwagon to hype up something new and interesting, but after hearing a few people talking about it, I decided to give it a go. I was so so impressed. My hair felt more volumised and more conditioned than when washing with shampoo first. I honestly didn't think it would make much of a difference but it does kind of make sense now; after conditioning, you want to shampoo and cleanse to get rid of any heavy conditioner, meaning that your hair will feel lighter and will be cleaner for longer. Ridding yourself of product means that your hair won't get as greasy and will feel more volumised as it's not being weighed down. To give you an idea of my hair type, it's fine and limp, straight with a teeny tiny wave in it, and I've just had ombre/balayage put in.

It sounds crazy, and if you're used to washing your hair shampoo first, then it'll take some getting used to. But it honestly does work. After the first time, I was so impressed that I've been using this method ever since, and it's been about 2 months. Hair washing will never be the same again!

Have you tried reverse washing?
Do you like the sound of it?

  1. There's no way I could use this method - but then I rarely use shampoo and tend to wash only with conditioner these days! x

  4. I keep saying I'll try this and keep forgetting it's hard to retrain I just keep reaching for shampoo haha. Sounds really good though as I sometimes find conditioner weighs my hair down :) xx

    1. It really is hard! It feels really unnatural at first then kinda becomes normality :) Conditioner also weighs my hair down as I have really fine hair, so this method works a treat. Daniela xo

  10. This is interesting, but I'm a bit confused as I normally only condition the mid-lengths to ends of my hair but not the roots. I thought this was what everyone does but do most people condition the roots as well?

    1. I just condition the mid-lenghts to ends of hair, too. You do that first, then shampoo your hair as normal :) Daniela xo
